Irish Women Begin 2008 Season With Convincing Victory
The Irish Women traveled to Oshawa this past weekend to open the pre-season schedule against the Vikings who are newly promoted to the TRU A Division in 2008.  The Irish proved to be too big, physical and experienced for the Vikings and came away with a lopsided 54 - 0 victory.  With many players still away at school, the Irish sent a team mixed with young, promising players and some wise old heads.  The depth of the Irish Women's program was on display as the young players stepped up and followed their veteran teammates lead and put together a dominating performance.

The Irish were led by last season's Co-Rookie of the Year, Tabitha Stavrou who scored 4 trys by physically overwhelming her opponents.  Other try scorers were sisters Claragh and Gillian Pegg, Lindsey Bradbury, captain Kirsten Sample, debutant Christine Richards, and Jenni Wong.  Wong added two conversions for a personal tally of 9 points.
