Truro
7's Tournament
Shamrocks won in
2002, 2003 off, 2004 Finalists
For the 3rd time in their storied history, the Shamrocks of the Irish Canadian Rugby Club will compete in the World Indoor Rugby Tournament, in Truro, Nova Scotia, March 11th-13th. The host club, Truro RFC, have staged this event for over twenty years and during that time it has grown in size from 6 men's teams to over 60 men's and women's teams. The tournament draws teams from all over Atlantic Canada, the Montreal and Ottawa area, and the Eastern seaboard of the USA.
The three-day, single elimination tournament takes place at the Truro Exhibition Centre in an area normally used to show livestock. Where the facility is only the size of a hockey rink and with a dirt floor and boards very closely surrounding the playing enclosure, this tournament is not for the faint of heart. With only two teams on the single pitch at one time there are plenty of laughs to be had in the stands between matches and the post-match parties are legendary, thus the mandatory damage deposits required at all local hotels.
