Specialty Sports/Canada.RugbyRugby.com Ontario Player of Week - Week 7/8

With a compressed schedule in the Ontario A league this week, RugbyRugby.com management held a meeting...(alright it was me with myself while I was shaving) and decided to combine the Specialty Sports/Canada.RugbyRugby.com player of the week award with the best performance from the previous Saturday and the mid-week Wednesday game.

With that criteria in mind, for the second straight week the Toronto Irish have produced a player of the week. Hooker Dale Burleigh had a stormer of a game on the road against the Bytown Blues, scoring two tries and missing a third by inches. He also went 17-18 on his own throw in and provided tremendous defensive ability as the Irish went on to win last Saturday 24-18. Burleigh, who recently reserved for the Canadian team against Japan was also a solidifying force against the Beach Wednesday night until leaving the match with a calf injury that will have him sidelined until after labour day. The Beach went on to win 35-15.

For his efforts Dale will receive a $25 gift certificate to use as he pleases on quality gear from Specialty Sports, major supplier of Ontario provincial rugby teams.
