Irish "A" trample Centaurs
Three tries in each half led an
Irish "A" team with only six players from the last first team game,
past Burlington 40-10 in a mid-summer friendly at Burlington on Tuesday.
With many players making their first XV debut, the Irish managed a 19-10
halftime lead on tries by Danny Bay, Jordan Dodds and Len Jean Pierre.
Rory Connolly added two converts.
The second half was all Irish as Ollie Bellwood, Dave Stratton and Kevin Turlo
scored, with Dave Poetecker kicking all 3 converts.
"A very positive exercise for both teams, gave everyone a run and a taste
of first team rugby; an eye opener for some players, while selectors also given
more to think about" said Irish coach Mark Winokur
The greens host Markham on July 24 at Fletchers in a return to Marshall Division
league play.
