With Head Coach Mark Winokur and Chief Selector Ken Smith watching from the stands, the ICRC Development side put on a rugby clinic on Saturday, pounding in 9 tries in their defeat of the Harlequins second team.

Strong work with the ball in contact, combined with a multiple phase platform made life simple for scrum half Andy Harrison.  Strike runners ran off every ball, which was extremely important in breaking down the 'Quins large defensive presence.  Extra attention in training to decision making while rucking proved to be very valuable, as the squad won the every ball on the deck all day long.  

"We are happy with the performance as we knew this team was going to be good once they all got on the same page," said Co-Coach Neil Maxwell. "It really shows now that they've had some good training sessions together.  Add that to the fact that some of the lads were playing for 1st XV selection... that really made the difference today", added Co-Coach Ian Galbraith.

Scoring on the day was led by Rene Leclerc & Henry Miers with 2 tries each.  Andy Harrison, James Berry, Tim Matthews, Tom Madden, and Alex Gawel added one apiece, and Glenn Howard and Mark Robinson kicked two conversions each to round out the scoring.  The selection committee were obviously impressed by several performances-there will obviously be a lot of pressure on the players who were in the 1st XV last time out.

The Timberwolves (3rds) ran in two tries in the final 10 minutes to top Brantford 31-27 in their match. Jake Denes led with two long tries as Brantford's tackling let them down. The Wolves are also 3-3 on the year.

Next stop for all three teams is Balmy Beach this Saturday, with the firsts traveling to Brantford next Wednesday, July 18, to make up the match from Saturday.

Training now moves to Fletcher's Fields on Tuesday.  Warning - Miss this night at your peril!!  The 1st XV and Development XV teams will be announced immediately after training.  All selections will be made from the inter-squad games that will take place under the close eye of all coaches and members of the selection committee.  7:00PM Sharp!!
