Irish Women win over UWO Touring Side

The Irish Women brought home another victory on Saturday, defeating the University of Western Ontario Mustangs touring team by the score of 13 - 5.

In the first half the ball was moved well in the back line and the forwards worked hard against a very physical and aggressive forward Western pack, but the wet weather and poor field conditions caused a scrappy second half.  Koko was satisfied with the performance of the girls but still feels that timing and adapting to various game situations needs to be worked on.

The two tries scored were by full back veteran, Karen Ferguson and Cheryl Morris kicked for a penalty.  Lesley Gorman unfortunately sustained a concussion from an over zealous play and had to be taken off.  Player of the day was awarded by Kok to Danielle Dillon who captained her team to victory.

As a new team, the cohesion and chemistry displayed on and off the field so early in the season is exciting and very promising and this will only develop more as the season goes on.

We wish the Western team all the best as they head out on their rugby tour around New Zealand.
